This large-sized bright red dragonfly was found in the Terai. The immature male is marked similarly to the female with a clear white stripe from the prothorax to the 3-4th segment of the abdomen. The mature male is red very similar to Crocothemis servilia but without the black line on the abdomen surface and a restricted orange spot at the base of the hind wing. The eyes are meeting at a point. Found in swampy wetlands at lower elevations throughout the region, from Sri Lanka to India and east to Malaysia and Australia.
