A small lovely red (male) or yellow (female) dragonfly. Males with a bright red spot on the backside of the hind trochanters and females a yellow spot. They are not common in Nepal but common in certain areas, such as forests and well-vegetated wetland areas. It is seen in the Chitwan National Park in the Terai and the wetlands next to Phewa Taal in Pokhara. The female was observed ovipositing at the end of August.
